Wetsuits in Athlone? - Curious Ear

One day in May 2005, radio producer, Ronan Kelly, was cycling through Athlone when he came across three 13-year olds walking along the street wearing wetsuits. Wetsuits!? In a town miles from the sea?!

The boys weren't heading for the sea; they were walking to the Shannon. Not the Shannon banks, though. They were heading for the white railway bridge that carries the Dublin-Galway line over the river.

At the time, Iarnród Éireann issued a statement saying that this report glorified what was trespass and reckless behaviour.
