“We can shake hands, hug them, talk to them eat them, we can do great activities with people with HIV, and try to give the best we can, to make them feel as very important and capable part of this community”
A strong and empowering message by Dr. Alma Carlson, one of the more than 500 United Nations volunteers serving in South Sudan.
Dr Alma hails from Bosnia Herzegovina, and is currently serving with the HIV – AIDS unit of the UN mission in South Sudan.
Ahead of the International Day of volunteers, Dr Alma spoke with Miraya Breakfast show host, Irene Lasu describing her inspiration to serve as a UN volunteer, acting fast to serve people that need support to live dignified lives.
