“Volunteerism is a rewarding effort that forms the backbone of humanitarian and peacekeeping work,” - the words of Mr. Waheeb Al-Eryani, UNV Programme Manager, South Sudan as the UNV’s in South Sudan joined the rest of the world to mark the International day of volunteers.

December 5 marks International Volunteers Day, and because South Sudan is one of the countries where #VolunteersActFirst, we shared the stories of some of our volunteers.

Mr. James Baird Haddow, an International UNV of UNMISS, Ms. Elizabeth Hammond, an International UNV of UNMISS and James Wani, Joined Waheeb, on Miraya Breakfast show, to discuss their motivations for volunteering, how they got started, and what volunteering in South Sudan means to them.
