CEPO appeals for intervention to release Matresses meant for inmates

Civil Society activist, Edmund Yakani, is calling for a swift intervention of the government to secure the release of 50 matresses being held by border authorities.

The Community Empowerment for Progress - CEPO with support from the South Sudan Red Cross procured 50 matresses and 100 pairs of bedsheets to furnish the female inmates section of Juba prison.

Edmund Yakani, spoke with Sworo Charles saying arrival of these matresses has been thwarted by a series of bureaucratic impendiments as the orgtanisation tries to get a tax exemption letter. The matresses are now stauck at Sirikat customs office in Juba.

He says it’s time for government to intervene in facilitating this noble cause.
