The UN Mission in South Sudan will be dispatching a force protection unit and military liaison officers to Western Lakes tomorrow, to assess the impact of the ongoing inter communal fighting between the Ruop and Pakam communities.

The sporadic fighting that broke out on Wednesday resumed early this morning, claiming more than fifty lives and injuring dozens.

The UNMISS Head of Field Office in Rumbek, Kwame Dwaomena says the protection force will also try to engage the leaders of the two communities to cease fire and come to dialogue.
