Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in Yei braces for returnee influx

Episode 87,   Jan 16, 2018, 05:52 AM

The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission office in Yei River State is preparing for an influx of returnees in the coming weeks as it continues to register returning residents from refugee camps in neighboring Uganda.

Several people have already made the voluntary journey with the return of relative calm to Yei, coupled with what they term as ‘increasingly difficult’ conditions in the refugee camps.

Reverend Apollo Ladu, a returning resident said they are often faced with shortages of water and shelter materials.   He said return of relative peace prompted him to make the voluntary journey back home.

Wani Jackson Mule, RRC Coordinator in Yei says some 65 returnees returned on Sunday alone and is appealing to humanitarian support to meet their needs.

Wani spoke to Sebit William in this interview.
