"When you look at the meat and the gist of what he said, a lot of people would agree... Don't have children you can't afford." @cf_farrow of @TheConWom on @bbradleymp's comments on benefit claimants having kids

A Conservative MP has apologised for comments he made in a blog post in 2012 in which he suggested benefit claimants should have vasectomies.

Ben Bradley, made Tory vice-chairman for youth in last week's reshuffle, he - hit out at what he called a "vast sea of unemployed wasters".

The 28-year-old had been writing in support of the benefits cap and also said: "Sorry but how many children - you have - is a choice; if you can't afford them, stop having them! Vasectomies are free."

Labour attacked him over the "repulsive comments".

Apologising, he said he had matured since writing the now-deleted remarks.
