The UN Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan has outlined three key issues expected to be on the agenda at the next phase of the High-level Revitalization forum for the South Sudan peace agreement.

Ambassador Nicholas Haysom is in Juba to meet with government officials, civil society representatives and other stakeholders ahead of the forum set for early next month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Mr Haysom highlights the ‘security architecture’ during the transition period, ‘transitional governance issues’ and issues regarding the timeline for the transition period.

Mr Haysom said the next session, convened by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development – IGAD, is expected to be more ‘difficult’ and ‘complicated’ than the previous discussions in December, that culminated in the signing of the cessation of hostilities agreement.

In this interview with Gabriel Shadar, the UN Special Envoy acknowledged reports of multiple violations of the ceasefire and recognized progress in the peace process as a whole.

He also speaks about the 2012 corporation agreements with Sudan.
