UNICEF prepares reintegration packages for former child soldiers

UNICEF is preparing reintegration packages and psychosocial support for hundreds of former child soldiers in Yambio. Some 300 children will be released in a program organized by the National Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration Commission with support from the UNICEF and the UN Mission in South Sudan. 

 The children aged between 10 and 16 years, including girls, previously fought for the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In Opposition (SPLM-IO) and the South Sudan National Liberation Movement (SSNLM). 

UNICEF Chief of Child Protection, Vedasto Nsanzugwanko told Miraya Breakfast show that the priority is to reunify the children with their families.
