The World Health Organization has issued guidelines emphasizing the reduction of “unnecessary” Cesarean sections on expectant mothers during childbirth.
This comes amid growing concerns about a surge in cesarean interventions recorded in hospitals.
Dr. Suzie Paul, WHO team leader for Reproductive Health for South Sudan says women should be given a little more time to experience natural birth and an intervention should only come in when it is medically obligatory.
Dr. Suzie spoke with Miraya Breakfast Show host, Irene Lasu, explaining the circumstances that may lead to C- section as a medical intervention.
