WHO South Sudan warns against consumption of raw meat

The World Health Organization – W-H-O is warning people about the potential risks of eating raw meat following an outbreak of Rift Valley fever in some parts of the country.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries has declared a Rift Valley fever outbreak in Yirol East, Yirol West and Awerial Counties of Eastern Lakes State.

Evans Liyosi W-H-O South Sudan country Representative says majority of human infections result from direct or indirect contact with the blood or organs of infected animals.
