Two Schools where fighting broke out among South Sudanese students re-opens

Two schools in Kakuma refugee camp which were closed down after students went on rampage protesting new school fees structures has re-opened.

On 14 March 2018, a group of South Sudanese refugees attacked refugee children and teachers in Kakuma Secondary and Greenlight Secondary School. Nine teachers and thirty-one students were injured.

The incident resulted into the closure of the two schools for almost three weeks.

Yvonne Ndege, UNHCR – the UN Refugee Agency Spokesperson in Kenya,  says the schools re-opened on Tuesday. She explains the circumstances leading to the re-opening of the two schools in Kakuma refugee camp.
