The tragedy of Sandakan - a story worth telling

A chance visit to an Australian War Memorial during a family holiday in South East Asia led retired Army Major, John Tulloch to a tragic story that would haunt him for over a decade. John served with the Royal Artillery and was horrified to discover that several hundred Gunners were among those who had died on the Sandakan Death Marches across Borneo during World War Two. Sarah Maddison asked him how the story of the PoWs had affected him.
