Before she joined the UN Mission in South Sudan, Sofia backpacked and visited every country in her continent South America, where she served as a volunteer in different projects that primarily tackled persons who had either been displaced because of conflict or persons who had been resettled to third countries because of unmet international protection needs in their first country of asylum.

Sofia worked in UNHCR in her own country with refugees from Colombia and she studied International Humanitarian Law.

Today we spotlight Sofia's journey as a United Nations Volunteer in South Sudan.
