Religious leaders facilitate mediation in intra South-South Addis talks

Episode 295,   May 18, 2018, 07:40 AM

As talks continue in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, religious leaders are hoping to use their moral authority to prevail over the parties to reach a long-awaited resolution to the crisis.

The inter-faith leaders have taken over the mediation role for the next two days, discussing directly with the parties alone. It is hoped the two days of South-South talks will result in compromises and breakthroughs.

Bishop Justin Badi Arama, Primate in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan is part of the 6-man delegation from the South Sudan Council of Churches.

The Bishop says the religious leaders have agreed to shoulder the responsibility to try and get the parties to make compromises in the interest of peace.
