The same Provisional IRA structures still exist, as they did in 2015. Nothing has changed. That was the claim from Chief Constable George Hamilton on Top Table last night. Three years ago Mr Hamilton made the initial assessment after the murder of ex-IRA man Kevin McGuigan Sr. He said that some IRA members were involved in that death but that there was no evidence that the killing was sanctioned by the organisation. Sinn Féin former president Gerry Adams said at the time he did not accept Mr Hamilton's comments, adding that the IRA has "gone and is not coming back".
