School children in Medway are being given kits to monitor air quality in a bid to raise awareness of pollution from traffic. Data will be monitored over 10 months while pupils will be encouraged to walk to school rather than get a lift in a car. Last month, Gillingham was named and shamed as one of the most polluted areas outside of London. It's feared poor air quality contributes to more than 120 deaths in the towns ever year. An event to mark Clean Air Day is taking place tomorrow.  James Williams is Medway's Director of Public Health.
