Deployment of all Female contingent will contribute to elimination of SGBV – Commander

Rwanda has deployed an all-female Formed Police Unit in South Sudan under the UN mission in the country.

The contingent led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Teddy Ruyenzi is the first of its kind and was pledged by President Paul Kagame during the 2015 UN Leaders’ Summit on Peacekeeping Operations.

The contingent arrived in the country on Wednesday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Teddy Ruyenzi told Joshua Mali, that the all-female contingent will contribute greatly to the response and elimination of sexual and gender-based violence.
