The Sudanese Mediation Team has presented a revised Bridging Proposal to parties meeting in Khartoum. Political parties of the Opposition Alliance have described the proposed deal as ‘unbalanced.’

Parties say the latest proposal largely maintains original clauses of a previous proposed deals regarding the Presidency and the structure of the revitalized transitional government, including three Vice President positions – one to go to SPLM-IO chairman Riek Machar.

It also suggests a dissolution of the current Parliament and re-composition of a 440-member Transitional National Legislative Assembly.

Peter Mayen, leader of the People’s Liberal Party and member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance says the parties will today present their comments to the mediators.

Speaking to the Radio Miraya Breakfast Show from Khartoum, Mayen said some political parties are threatening to pull out of the process.
