An elder and veteran politician says this seventh Independence Day anniversary should serve as a reminder that South Sudan is a country that deserves nothing short of peace.

85-year-old Raphael Zamoi has held several political positions, including the commissioner of Yambio province is one of the prominent politicians in Western Equatoria region. 

Raphael Zamoi says he is disappointed by the path the country has taken since Independence and says the only way forward is to stop the conflict. 

Raphael Zamoi spoke with Francis Felix Katie in this interview.
