UN Technical Team to assist implement commitments on SGBV

A United Nations technical team is expected in South Sudan in two weeks’ time to work with key government stakeholders to help the country implement the joint communique to address sexual and gender-based violence issues.

This was disclosed by the Undersecretary-General and UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten.

She told Philip Wani that a team of experts from the United Nations Rule of law unit, will support the police, Justice Ministry, the SPLA and the National Ministry of Gender to build a stronger and comprehensive responses to address sexual violence, including prevention, detection, accountability and psycho-social support.
