UNMISS to double peacekeeper presence in Yambio, says SRSG David Shearer

The UN Special Representative of the Secretary General and Head of the UN Mission in South Sudan, David Shearer,  has announced that the UN Mission will double its peacekeeping presence in Yambio over the coming months, to boost civilian confidence and encourage the growth of projects geared towards peace building and development. 

 Mr. Shearer was in Yambio on Tuesday to meet with government officials and assess the viability of UNMISS support towards peace and recovery projects. 

The Special Representative said Stability, Reconciliation and Resilience are the main ingredients needed to inspire peace, progress and stability in Yambio. 

He elaborated how UNMISS is lending its support.
