Parliamentary Network for Population and development Launched

Supported by the United Nations Population Fund – UNFPA, the Network will help promote and protect human rights and welfare, especially of women and children. 

It will also promote reproductive health including family planning, prevention of HIV and harmful practices such as child marriage and gender-based violence. 

UNFPA country representative, Mary Otieno, challenged the legislators to be change agents for development by legislating laws addressing population issues and championing the advocacy for women and girls access to family planning.

Speaker Anthony Lino Makana, stated the need to launch a similar network on mental health.
