LISTEN: Oliver Kirk, solicitor at Old Bailey Solicitors, says many lives are on hold due to delays at Canterbury Crown Court - 16/07/18

Victims of crime and defendants facing trial at Canterbury Crown Court have been forced to wait months because of delays.

A freedom of information request found the average time for a case to arrive at the court and a trial to start - has gone up from 13 weeks to 24 in the last five years.

The Ministry of Justice has since responded and say a new judge is due, which should reduce waiting times.

Oliver Kirk is a solicitor for Old Bailey Solicitors and welcomes the appointment.
