South Sudan Civil Society appeals for people focused budget

Civil society organizations have joined hands to advocate for a people-centered budget that serves the needs of ordinary South Sudanese.

Civil society activists argue that the current budget before parliament has fallen short of addressing the critical needs of the ordinary citizens. 

Lorna Merekaje, Secretary-General of South Sudan Democratic Engagement Monitoring and Observation program said it is important to ensure that the budget meets the needs of the ordinary South Sudanese.

Meanwhile, John Malish, from the Institute of Social Policy and Research says financial discipline is urgently needed to ensure that ordinary citizens benefit from the budget.
