NRC Country Director explains why South Sudan topped list of most Dangerous Country for Aid Workers in 2017

South Sudan was the most dangerous country in which to deliver aid for the third year running, according to the annual Aid Worker Security Report compiled by independent research group Humanitarian Outcomes on Monday.

This is the third consecutive year that South Sudan tops the global list.

The Norwegian Refugee Council, one of the major humanitarian agencies operating in South Sudan, says this ranking underscores the complexities in delivering aid and the impunity with which armed actors operate when attacking aid workers. 

Ms. Rehana Zawar, Country Director of the Norwegian Refugee Council, in South Sudan told Miraya Breakfast Show that there is an urgent need to give Humanitarian aid workers a safe, unimpeded, unhindered access to reach the populations in need of critical aid delivery, like food and medicine.
