Dr Lam Akol says contentious issues resolved as Peace deal is signed

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir and SPM-IO leader Riek Machar signed a much-anticipated peace deal yesterday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

After 15 months of on and off negotiations and broken deals - the two men signed a document and shook hands to cheers of support in front of a gathering that included regional leaders and delegates.

The agreement was also signed by Deng Alor representing the Former Political detainees, Gabriel Changson Chang for the South Sudan opposition alliance and Peter Mayen for the Other political parties.

The presidents of Uganda, Sudan, Somalia and Djibouti were present at the summit that was chaired by Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
