There've been calls for a safety review of one of the UK's major roads - after figures show 809 collisions through two counties in the East Midlands that it passes through.

As Fire crews in Nottinghamshire say a fifth of all crashes they're called to are on the A1, road safety charity Brake says the sheer number of collision is too high for authorities to ignore.

Highways England says they're producing a detailed study on safety on the A1 as a whole which will show where improvements are needed.
