Japan sets aside $3.6M dollars to support implementation of Revitalized Agreement

The Government of Japan has been funding food assistance to developing countries since the country gained its independence.

Japan has supported WFP’s work in South Sudan since 2013, contributing more than US$35 million.

The latest donation brought total contributions from Japan to WFP in the country to more than US$37 million.

In the latest show of support, the Government of Japan has set aside $3.6million dollars to support the implementation of the Revitalized agreement to resolve the conflict in South Sudan.

Speaking to Miraya Breakfast show, Japan’s ambassador to South Sudan, Seiji Okada, said the funding has been disbursed to the inter- governmental authority on development –IGAD account.

Ambassador Okada however said the money will not be touched, until parties show political will to implement the agreement.
