Theresa May could be preparing to compromise on Northern Ireland’s regulations after Brexit in an attempt to break the impasse in negotiations.

A new plan could see the region retaining limited single market membership, putting extra checks on the Irish sea border.

But DUP leader Arlene Foster is already going on the offensive, warning the prime minister she won’t accept extra regulations for Northern Ireland the rest of the UK isn’t subject to.
