UN Peace Keeping chief and AU Commissioner for Peace and Security conduct joint visit to South Sudan

The United Nations Peacekeeping chief and African Union Peace and security delegation have visited the UN protection of civilians site in Bentiu.

The site in Bentiu is home to more than 100- thousand internally displaced people, mostly women and children.

"The misconduct against mainly women in this country is totally unacceptable, now that the peace agreement has been signed we have to reach out to the women..." 

The African Union Commissioner for peace and security Ambassador, Smail Chergui,  said there is an urgent need to give hope to the women, describing it as the first step to healing.
