A group of South Sudanese Activists and refugees staged a peaceful protest Thursday, pressuring the government of Kenya to act against people benefiting from the conflict.

The protesters marched to Kenya Commercial bank and handed over a petition asking the management to block bank accounts of all persons believed to be profiting from the conflict in South Sudan.

The protesters also marched to Kenya Parliament in Nairobi and delivered a petition to the Speaker, seeking the country’s legislative assembly to act against the war profiteers.

Thursday’s protests stem from a documentary released early this week showing evidence of resources meant to profit a country ending up profiting just a few individuals.

Manase Mathiang, one of the South Sudanese Youth activists took part in the protest. In this interview, MANASE explains what inspired the action and what the protesters hope to achieve.
