Cumbraephase

Reimagined by Tim Floyd. This composition was created entirely from the sounds captured in Ollie Campbell’s Great Cumbrae field recording. Central to the composition is a short, repeating birdsong motif which fractures into shifting patterns and returns to its original form by way of Steve Reich inspired phase shifting techniques. I wanted to preserve the character of the original recording and the sounds of wind in leaves, insects and human voices serve as an audio environment for the phasing birdsong to inhabit.
