BBC Journalist Peter Matel speaks about his book on South Sudan

A new book on the history and memoirs of South Sudan prior to Independence to the present day has hit the bookstores.

The Book titled; “First Raise a flag; How South Sudan won the longest war but lost the peace,” reflects on the meaning of Nationalism, the Power of hope and the endurance of the human spirit.

The author, British journalist Peter Martel spent ten years gathering personal accounts from South Sudanese and people who witnessed key moments including the Anyanya one struggle, the referendum, and independence from Sudan leading up to the current situation.
