One Young World Summit opens in the Hague

The One Young World Summit - the global forum for young leaders opens in the Netherlands today.

The summit in the Hague, considered an International City of Peace and Justice, will see more than one thousand eight hundred young people from around the world,  join forces with global leaders to discuss the world’s most pressing issues.

Speaking from the Hague, John Jal Dak, the Executive Director and Co- Founder Youth Social Advocacy Team - a Refugee Youth led Organisation, said he will use the opportunity to shed a light on the plight of the South Sudanese refugees.

"My biggest aim is to raise the voices of young people, the million that are not here in the Hague, especially the refugees, and to talk about our potential, to talk about how young people can be supported," said Dak.

He also said the summit provides him a once in a life time opportunity to advocate for the rights of young South Sudanese.

"Also to advocate for our rights and also the need for peace in our country especially South Sudan and also to build connections and networks with the young people all over the world, the one thousand eight hundred young people all over the world.”
