Binaural Dawn Chorus in a Coastal Native Forest in Waipatiki, NZ

Oct 19, 2018, 11:52 AM

Recorded by Benny Jennings.

"A binaural recording of a dawn chorus in a costal native nikau palm forest, in Waipatiki beach, Hawkes Bay, NZ. It is situated in the middle of farm land, and beside the sea so the dawn chorus features a multitude of various birdsongs, both native and non native.

Bell birds and Tuis are the most present and distinctive. The snapping and scuffing are actually birds around the microphones feeding in the underbrush.

Occasionally a pheasant or a lamb can be heard from the farms in the distance. The slow pulse of the waves on the beach can also be heard from several hundred meters a way."
