The independent government watchdog’s warning the UK border won’t be ready in time for leaving the EU next March.

The National Audit Office has found political uncertainty and poor planning means infrastructure, border staff and business systems aren’t going to be in place.

No government minister would come on the programme to discuss the report or take responsibility, and a statement just says they have “robust plans” to deal with the border.

Nick Howard speaks to Rod McKenzie, policy director at the Road Haulage Association, which deals with reality at the border every day.
