Interview with USAID Mission Director in South Sudan, James Hope

The Director for the US Agency for International Development - USAID, James Hope, is calling for a commitment to the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, so the country can get on the path to a better future.

 James Hope, was hosted on Miraya Breakfast Show on Friday. He  noted that a cessation in hostilities will be critical for the delivery of longer-term developments, that will build a foundation for a better South Sudan.

 “The end of violence, the end of conflict will create opportunities for all of us not just USAID but for all of us to deliver on a variety of challenges in the country," said James Hope. 

"So we would like to be able to see a situation where there is peace and stability and that will create space to continue to deliver humanitarian assistance," he added. 

USAID has over the past five Years injected over $4 billion US dollars, providing lifesaving humanitarian assistance, conflict mitigation assistance, essential services such as health care and education in South Sudan.

James Hope explains the significance of USAID support and the impact it has made so far.
