The Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism – CTSAMVM, is calling for increased efforts to disseminate the agreement among the rank and file of the armed forces in South Sudan.

Speaking to Miraya Breakfast show, Ruth Fenny, CTSAMVM communications officer, said that the dissemination of the agreement and confidence building is essential to controlling hostilities.

“We are finding out that people, local authorities, local civilians, military authorities have very little knowledge of the agreement, said Fenny. "So this is very, very important for the agreement to be implemented and to take hold, we must continue to see these efforts and these efforts need to be doubled up in fact," she added.

Last week, the IGAD mandated Ceasefire Monitors convened their third Technical Committee Meeting in Khartoum.

Parties discussed joint visits by the warring party members to hostile areas and recent incidents of Sexual Gender Based Violence.

Ruth Fenny says;

“As the meetings progress, we are witnessing in front of our eyes that the parties are now really looking for solutions to these problems and they are starting to work more as a team on these issues as opposed to individual parties. So these kinds of things although they night seem very small and insignificant, these kind of things are very encouraging.”
