Sportswomen of the Year Special: Alex Paske

Oct 31, 2018, 09:04 AM

Alasdair Hooper hosts a Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards Special with the founder of the Mintridge Foundation Alex Paske.

Alex was always a keen hockey player growing up and set herself dreams of one day playing for England.

However, after she failed to make the grade at an England under-16 trial - due to the pressure - she fell out of love with the game and struggled mentally with the personal failure.

By her own admission she never truly got better until she set up the Mintridge Foundation in 2015 - and her work has now been recognised with a nomination in the Grassroots Awards category at this year's Sportswoman of the Year Awards.

While the November 1 awards night is fast approaching, Alex tells her own story on this episode as well as exploring the important work Mintridge does in bridging the gap between elite sport and young people.

The foundation may only be three years old now but there is plenty more to come.
