Postcards from the Trenches

From @BBCR4today this morning :  .Between 1915 and 1916 a young German artist, conscripted,  sent postcard sized paintings back home to his girlfriend:  scenes from the trenches. Not  barbed wire and corpses in the mud, but (mostly) more peaceful scenes.
