‘Accelerate possibilities for Children’ - UNSC working group on Children and Armed conflict

"Consolidating Peace will open up great possibilities for the children of South Sudan.” This was the conclusion made by Olof Skoog, current Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations.

Ambassador Olof Skoog led a high-level delegation of the UN Security Council Working group on children in conflict to Pibor and Bor on Tuesday to see first-hand the challenges created by ongoing violations perpetrated against children by parties to the conflict.

The delegation met with the local governors, the UNMISS and partners implementing reintegration programs for children that have been the victims of the six grave violations.

Fracesca Mold, Head of the Public information office of the UN Mission in South Sudan spoke with Ambassador Olof and begun by asking him to explain his impression of what he saw and heard on the trip to Bor.
