UNMISS Supports Government to Ratify key human rights covenants

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan – UNMISS is providing technical assistance to Government to see how best to ratify and implement the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The ratification of this international instrument is an important step towards broadening the scope of human rights protection in South Sudan.

Eugine Nindorera , head of the Human Rights division of the UN Mission in South Sudan, told Sworo Charles that the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights to further support the government efforts to ensure equal access to education, health and to a decent standard of living.

He described the progress being made in this direction.
