Judo Special: Jack Hodgson

Nov 11, 2018, 04:26 PM

Alasdair Hooper hosts a Judo Special ahead of the 2018 IBSA Judo World Championships with British team member Jack Hodgson.

The Rio 2016 Paralympian is one of the more experienced members of the British Judo team selected to compete at this year's World Championships.

However, the run up to the tournament has been far from smooth for the 22-year-old who recently underwent elbow surgery.

Hodgson has had to contend with a disrupted training programme for the last while but his determination to compete is clear for all to see - as is his love for the sport.

As a youngster, when he started to lose his sight, Hodgson was told he wouldn't able to do any type of sport but watching the visually impaired athletes at the London 2012 Paralympics told him differently.

Now, following one of the toughest periods in his time as a professional athlete, Hodgson is hoping to apply that same level of commitment as he eyes up medal-winning success in the short and the long term.
