"Listen to the Children" - UNICEF Communications Specialist Helen Sandbu Ryeng

[…] “We as adults should listen more to children because they know what their issues are and they are in the best position to tell you what their issues are," says Helen Sandbu Ryeng, UNICEF communications specialist.

Helene spoke on Miraya Breakfast show, ahead of the World Children's Day observed annually on November 20th.

In South Sudan, UNICEF has flagged several issues around its Go Blue campaign aimed to raise awareness on the rights and needs of children.

"Often, they really have really good solutions as well. As adults we sometimes come in with a different lens, so we interpret their problems and realities in a different way." Helen adds.

UNICEF aims to “amplify the voices of children and young people as active participants in decision making” across the country.

"Children of today are the future leaders of South Sudan, we need to listen to them and to make sure that their views are taken into account everyday when we make decisions,”
