UNHCR Unveils Special Protection Unit for SGBV Victims in Bor Town

A newly renovated office block to handle cases of gender-based violence has been handed over to the Special Police Unit in Bor.

The premises was built with support from UN Refugee Agency – UNHCR, and will serve as a space for police officers to receive and investigate crimes against women.

UNHCR has trained a support team of 30 police personnel, including four female officers, to respond to SGBV cases in Bor.

Malar Smith, UNHCR Head of Field Office in Bor, told Mach Samuel Adut that the Special Police Unit is extremely important because it will help police to provide timely response and prevention of sexual gender-based violence.
