Human Rights Lawyer calls for Urgent Reforms in South Sudan's Juvenile Justice System

We have a weak prison system in South Sudan and one of the sad parts of the justice system, is the way the children in conflict with the law are treated.

Children as young as 13 years old, are housed in adult prison facilities and while the clash between customary and constitutional law has worsened the situation of Juvenile justice system in South Sudan.

“A child cannot stand up to challenge an adult who is telling lies against him or her and by silencing that child, you are silencing the truth.”

Godfrey Victor Bulla, Executive Director of the ‘Justice and Human Rights Observatory’ legal aid group talks to Miraya Breakfast show host, Sebit William, about children tried as adults in South Sudan and the urgent need for juvenile justice reform.
