The Red Sox Defeated The Dodgers 5-1 To Secure 9th Title

The Boston Red Sox are the 2018 World Series champions. Last night in game 5 of the world series the Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 to win the seires 4-1. After a franchise record 108 regular season wins, the Red Sox went on to dispatch the Yankees, the defending champion Astros, and finally the Dodgers tallying a total postseason record of 11-3. The World Series MVP was Steve Pearce. Pearce a June aquisition from Toronto, had 3 homers and seven RBI in the final two games. Another accolade was Alex Cora who became the first manager from Puerto Rico to win a title and just the fifth rookie skipper overall. Boston outscored the Dodgers 28-16 and had a better batting average of .222 compared to .180 The Red Sox now have tied the Athletics for most world series championships with 9 behind the Yankees and Cardinals. Pearce hit a twon run homer on Kershaw’s sixth pitch. Solo homers by Mookie Betts in the sixth inning and JD Martinez in the seventh quieted the LA crowd. Pearce added a solo drive of Baez in tne 8th to end the Dodgers season.
