The newly instituted nursing and midwifery regulatory council will begin screening nurses and midwives early next year.
The interim regulatory body was launched last week by the ministry of health in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund - UNFPA.
The council aims to protect the public from unsafe health practices, ensure quality and standard of nursing and midwifery care including development of the profession.
Repent Khamis George, the Chairperson national Nursing and Midwifery Association, says the regulatory council has given them green light to start their duty soon.
He spoke to Philip Wani in this interview.
