The humanitarian situation in South Sudan remains ‘dire,’ prompting already stretched donors and humanitarian partners to focus on the most vulnerable as they gradually shift attention to agriculture and resilience building programs after years of man-made conflict.
“Our interest is the people of South Sudan,” said German Ambassador Jan Hendrik van Thiel, adding that the main focus is on helping people survive enormous and growing challenges.
The German government reached its goal of $90mln in humanitarian assistance disbursed in 2018, supporting IDPs, women, girls and other vulnerable communities.
Ambassador Jan spoke to Sebit William in this interview.
